As you see in the other answers, Buffalo Bills 2020 the year when shit got real #quarantined shirt KISS didn’t do the makeup thing from 1983–1995. But they also didn’t start out with their trademark look. These earliest photos below from 1973 show more of a glam style that was popular at the time… kinda David Bowie meets Clockwork Orange meets New York Dolls. There’s some makeup going on, but not like the Kabuki-style full face paint they adopted in 1974 that depicted fully developed characters. Glam was popular in NY, like the New York Dolls. From 1974–1983 there were no photos of the band without makeup… or without a napkin over their face, etc. Paul Stanley has never admitted plastic surgery that I’ve read or heard, but it’s pretty impossible to look at him and think nothing’s been done. (I’m excluding the surgery on one of his ears, which was deformed from birth.) As for original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, no definitive word there either, but neither looks to have had anything except maybe minor enhancements (treatments, not surgery). Current members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer haven’t reportedly had any work done, but they’re only 60 and 61 years old.
